Moving to the West End of Toronto

It’s been two weeks since I quit smoking, and in two weeks time I’ll be moving into a new apartment (*cough* loft *cough*) in the west end of Toronto. It’s got a certain symmetry to it. I’m feeling better in time to start feeling much better about where I’m living.

I’ve been looking for a way to pick up on the posting bit, so will look for a chance to blog here and there as we get closer to moving.

Very excited about the new place, sooo glad to be getting out of the current place. I’ll leave you with a video which seems apropos in many ways.

Meteor Strike Caught by Police Dash-Cam

This spectacular footage of a suspected meteor strike near Edmonton, Alberta was caught by a police dash cam. Last I heard the impact site, if there was a single major point of impact, had yet to be found. For more information on Near Earth Object events, check with Harvard and NASA.

I don’t know what to say, this is either powerfully cheesey or incredibly cool. I’m about as far from the standard definition of the quintessential queer as you can get, but something about this yanks at that sluggish fab gene I know is lurking somewhere in my cells.

Was just poking around our network some here at b5media, and noticed a link to a reuters story about a recent invention which combines a urinal and a video game system. Their promo booth is a little awkward but I think Werner Dupont and Bart Geraets are definately on to something here. Dunno how well it would really go in puritan US of A, but I can only imagine what this could do for beer sales in the right bar with the right crowd

So I was at MySQL Con last month. Lot’s of great sessions, learned some good tricks, but I think my favorite part of the whole trip was catching Dick Hardt’s Identity 2.0 talk on the last day. He’s definately got the right idea when it comes to the future of personal identification, but it’s his presentation style I was really struck by. Check it out…
